I ask because I’m not gonna lie, it’s a sharp looking car and of course the macan s has that beautiful exhaust note. At 340hp, it’s a pretty quick car.
I can’t get over the fact that it’s a crossover, however realistically it’s basically a hatchback lifted up with some cladding and big wheels like most other small crossovers. A lot of reviews I read say it handles more or less as a sporty small car I.e something like my focus ST. Can anyone confirm this? If it does that would make it a more compelling vehicle, but I can’t help to think that’s not true.

I never drove one but it certainly looks like Porsche had fun and created a fun hot hatch

Can confirm, it’s very fun. That said, it’ll be PDK, so you have to be okay without a manual gearbox. The Macan S and higher models are all very quick. My experience is in the GTS as my former neighbor had one, which was something like 360hp. Corners very flat, PDK is excellent, plenty of power and good steering feel. However, if you’re looking for anything remotely raw/stirring/soulful, you’ll probably be a bit disappointed.

I have no personal e xperience with it but just a personal preference being that this is one of the very few crossovers I would want to own, based on many reviews I’ve watched and read. Apparently i t drives just like a Porsche h atchback would .

There is a dark blue one I that parks in our parking garage at work. I have no idea how it drives, but it is a fine looking vehicle, and this is coming from a guy whose feelings for most crossovers and SUVs is not very positive. Never have driven one or been in one though.

It’s basically a GTI with a lift and a bit more power, for double the cost!

One of my good friends has one. It’s super fun for what it is, but I wouldn’t call it a drivers car.

No. It’s a crossover. None are decent. None are drivers cars. They are pigs with lipstick. A minivan with conventional doors. A fad to be watched from the shore while the ship lights on fire, and sinks with a total loss.

I’ve driven the Cayenne Hybrid S in the canyons. It is probs the best SUV I’ve driven in canyons. Having said that, not really a drivers car. Enough grip to make my wife yell at me, but pretty numb. It would def make a good family vehicle. I feel like the Macan is a 7/8 scale one, which would presumably do the job too.

It’s the size of a typical small/medium crossover, which is to say bigger than a typical hatchback.
The closest crossovers to really being lif ted hot hatches are the original BMW X1 35i and the current Mercedes GLA45 AMG.

This seems relevant.

I can tell you they aren’t good for off roading. Even in Subaru blue.

Can confirm the GTS was fun, not sure how much would be sacrificed in the difference. I detest SUVs and CUVs but the GTS is the first time I genuinely enjoyed one.

Yes. I’ve test driven a couple of Macan S’s, and I had one for 24 hours as a loaner.
It’s great to drive.
I’ll be putting my money where my mouth is when I order a 2019 this month.

Hmm. After having a hatchback I truly can’t get away from the utility. I’m going upmarket (originally for a wagon) next purchase and I’m thinking this will have to be an option, it’s at the same price point when everything is said and done
